Description:  Class SM-5 (SMR-5, SM-6, SMR-6) wagons entered service between 1976 and 1980 and were converted from Class SH-5 in 1987. They are flat wagons with open beam decks and retractable twistlocks designed to transport 8 x 5ft, 4 x 10ft, 2 x 20ft or 1 x 40ft containers. Most have buffers to prevent container doors from being opened.
