SAR Sheathed Coach (Side A)
Title:  SAR Sheathed Coach (Side A)
Description:  This first class coach, one of only two built, is painted in maroon for the African Train Lodge and has a sheathed wooden body with tapered roof peaks and a closed vestibule at each end. Side A is the compartment side and its interior layout is, from the right, a toilet, a shower, three four-bed compartments, two two-bed coupes, two four-bed compartments, and a toilet. .....oo....oo..... SAR Type C-30, Built 1936, Number range 8255 and 8256, Length over headstocks 63' 5", Height 12' 5 13/16", Width 9' 3", To seat 36, To sleep 24. Coaches that were withdrawn for non-revenue service were usually renumbered in the 14,001 to 14,999 range and I suspect this one's original number was 8256.
