Class X-21 (XJ-21, XP-21 type 1, XPJ-21 type 1) wagons entered service between 1958 and 1961, and between 1982 and 1984 some Class XC-5 and XS-5 wagons were also converted to Class X-21. They are designed to transport water, treacle, oil and other similar products (Diesel in this case). When undergoing a major service many tank wagons are now being equipped with a new all round the turret walkway, like on this wagon.
