SAR Class XH-2 (Side A) (Type 3)         
Class XH-2 wagons appears to have been converted from Class X-17 or Class X-20 steam locomotive auxiliary water tankers, which entered service in 1938 and 1953 to 1956. They are designed to transport water, treacle, oil and other similar products (Drinking water in this case). The type 3 group have turrets with smooth rounded top edges.
