Between 2010 and 2013 Transnet Freight Rail placed seventy-six Class 15E 50 kV AC 50 Hz heavy electric freight locomotives with a Co*Co wheel arrangement in service on the Sishen–Saldanha iron ore line, numbered in the range from 15-001 to 15-076.
