Class 5E1, Series 5 locomotives entered service between 1966 and 1969. They were locally manufactured by Union Carriage and Wagon in Nigel. This one is still in service and has been modified extensively - note the side window screens, the higher side door with the curved rainwater gutter above it, the reinforcing under the door and side window and the brand new paint job. On the right (other) side the cutaways on the roof edge were also filled in.
