Class SH-12 (SHJ-12, SHLJ-12, SH-14, SHJ-14, SHLJ-14, SH-17, SHLJ-17) wagons entered service between 1981 and 1982. They are flat wagons with solid decks and retractable twistlocks designed to transport 4 x 10ft, 2 x 20ft or 1 x 40ft containers. Most have buffers to prevent container doors from being opened (absent here). This one, reclassified first to Class SH-14 and then to Class SH-17, is used as a power wagon in reefer container trains and carries a 20ft generator container with a 10ft tank container as fuel tank.
