SAR Sheathed Combine (Side B)
These sheathed wooden commuter coaches disappeared from South African rails during the 1960s and 1970's, gradually getting replaced by all metal coaches with driver controlled sliding doors. This is a first and second class composite baggage-van, one of two built in 1930. Its interior layout is, from right, a first class compartment, toilets on both sides of a short passage with an interconnecting door to a second class compartment, a baggage compartment with two double doors on each side, and the conductor's cabin.

SAR Type U-27, Built 1930, Number range 7106 and 7107, Length over headstocks 60' 0 1/2", Height 12' 0 13/16", Width 9' 1 3/4", To seat 14 1st Class and 25 2nd Class passengers.
