SAR Dining Car (Series 1, Side A)         
This dining car, the MATLABAS, is painted in the BJ's livery. BJ's is a restaurant group that, at the time, was contracted by Spoornet to do the catering on the Shosholoza Meyl's long distance routes. Dining cars run permanently coupled to kitchen cars and are always positioned in the middle of the train. Side A has one door on the left. The interior layout is, from the left, a bar with a passage around it on the A side, the dining room, and cupboards on both sides of the centre aisle.

SAR Type A-37, Number range 101 to 109, Built 1959, Length over headstocks 63' 5", Height 12' 7 7/16", Width 9' 3 3/16", To seat 38.
