Class NZ wagons are various types of wagons that were either purpose built or reclassified for use in non-revenue service. This is a Class GZ-9 wagon that entered service between 1965 and 1968 and was designed to transport livestock. A set of four of these wagons have been modified for use during the installation and maintenance of catenary cables by removing most of the woodwork sides and installing a pantograph on one and walkways and rollers on the roofs of all the wagons.
