|Class NZ wagons are various types of wagons that were either purpose built or reclassified for use in non-revenue service. This is a Class FP-2 wagon that entered service in 1969 and was designed to transport parcels. It was likely decorated circa 1994 and on the A side it features Nelson Mandela, F.W. de Klerk and Mangosotho Buthelezi at left, and King Shaka and his mother Nandi at right. On both sides of the wagon various aspects of Zulu culture are also depicted. I suspect the artist was an ex SA Defence Force Zulu soldier, judging from the names incorporated in the artwork. Vryburg, Stella, Kameel, Piet Plessi, Bray and Pomfret were mostly locations of military bases, while Louwna is the wife of recce Maj Wynand du Toit who spent two years as a POW in Angola.Other side at http://grela.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1629734, Number range 94 800 006 to 94 808 376 and 94 820 007 to 94 999 997, Length between couplers 13.076m, Length over headstocks 12.192m, Length between bogie pivot centres 8.230m, Height 3.512m, Width 2.570m, Tare (average) 19,730kg, Load 30,000kg, Floor area 29m2, Capacity 65m3.
