SAR Class D-1 (Side A) (Type 1)         
Class D-1 (DJ-1, DLJ-1) wagons entered service between 1974 and 1975 and are dropside open wagons designed to transport general goods. They were converted from Class DZ-11 in 1978 and from Classes DZ-11, DZ-12, DZA-12 and D-3 in 1984. The type 1 wagons have channel iron outside braces on their bulkheads.
