Class NSE-1 wagons entered service between 1954 and 1969. Side B has two access doors on the cabin side. They are 110 volt steam heating vehicles, used to generate steam for heating in passenger coaches. They always run between the locomotive and the first coach on mainline passenger trains, usually only during the winter months.
