SAR Class NZ (Side B) (Type 2)
This is an ex Class XH-2 wagon, reclassified but not renumbered. These wagons appear to have been converted from Class X-17 or Class X-20 steam locomotive auxiliary water tankers, which entered service in 1938 and 1953 to 1956. They are designed to transport water, treacle, oil and other similar products (Water in this case). The type 1 and 2 groups have turrets resembling half of a 44 gallon oil drum, and on the type 2 wagons the brake wheel on the A side is positioned to the right of the ladder.
